EOS, Hyperion's Leftovers on Pandora
Friends: What friends?...
Neutral: Hyperion
Enemies: Bandits, “Bandits”, Psychos
“Yeah, so are you going to send a transport vessel from Helios? We are running out of supplies.”
“Hello?... Hello?! HELLO?!”
“...they'll send for us eventually...”
- Commanding Officer Staffith trying to communicate with Helios over the ECHOnet.
Eos takes the inspiration for its name from the Titan goddess by the same name who is daughter to the Titan god Hyperion. Officially, they are what remains of Hyperion's military presence on Pandora after the events of Borderlands 2. Unofficially, Hyperion is still in contact with Eos and are fully aware of the existence of this splinter cell, whom they use to push their own agenda on Pandora with the promise of a return off of Pandora given to the soldiers of Eos in exchange.
They are sometimes given supplies from Helios but largely remain on their own survival instinct to continue their mission on Pandora. Therefore, they've actually become more battle-hardened than Hyperion personnel on Pandora ever were before, mirroring more the likes of the Crimson Lance during Atlas's occupation of Pandora.
A schism exists between two factions of Eos. One faction still believes in Hyperion and continue to follow the orders given to them. These soldiers still adorn the white stripe of Hyperion over their yellow armor, they were under the command of Staffith before Staffith was killed by the leader of the other faction. Under new leadership, that faction still executes Hyperion's commands. Dawntus, who has since adopted the name in ode to Eos is a ruthless warmonger that revels in the slaughter and has wholeheartedly accepted his fate as the “damned remains of Hyperion on Pandora”. Therefore, these damned former-Hyperion crusaders wear a stripe of blood instead of white over the yellow armor of their forebears, which many have dyed black.
Thus exists a Hyperion-aligned Eos and a Dawntus-aligned Eos; both are looked upon as enemies to the people of Pandora and a serious pest to Vault Hunters. The Hyperion-aligned Eos has a squad-based command structure where Captains delegate responsibility to their own unit, answering to a new CO who has since laid low as the Dawntus-aligned Eos faction rises – the new CO communicates with members of the Hyperion-aligned Eos faction through pre-recorded ECHO Recorders at drop sites. The Dawntus-aligned Eos faction are divided into several cells who drift across Pandora, always on the move, always itching for a new kill. They are less organized but respect their commander, Dawntus wholeheartedly and answer to him over the ECHOnet.
